Stoicism is a way of living which teaches you to be free from negative thoughts, helps you in creating a mindset which allows you to focus on what you can control and what is not in your control.

There are a few things that we can inculcate into ourselves by practising to be a stoic. Most of these things are picked up from the teachings of the Stoic philosophers who were fully engulfed in understanding how best to live one’s life.

1. To apply reason to your living in a meaningful manner.

Stoicism teaches you to live a life filled with kindness and virtue. Doing things in a respectful and harmless manner without worrying about the actual outcome which is usually not in our control. It is important to do the right thing instead of doing the easiest thing.

“Man is born for deeds of kindness; and when he has done a kindly action, or otherwise served the common welfare, he has done what he was made for, and has received his quittance.” Marcus Aurelius

2. To be more self-aware about the things you do.
