Today in this episode of Movie Snippets, I am going to recommend you the movie Aavasavyuham — The arbit documentation of an amphibian hunt. Directed by Krishand.

The movie is currently streaming on SONY LIV.

Wow, what a movie. The intriguing factor of the movie starts with the title of it and I don’t have words to express what this movie is. It’s a documentary-styled abstract concept story, I don’t even know what category this comes under. The storytelling, cinematography, music, and ambiguity of the whole story make it special.

The movie is a take on man’s encroaching on animal spaces predominantly the water bodies in this case. How the corporates turn islands and the backwaters in some regions to use for their benefit under the name of development and progress for the locals but in turn are the main culprits of the ecological imbalances in the regions.

The surreal fantasy angle in the plot where the protagonist has special powers along with the discussion on multiple social issues makes it a mockumentary-styled narration and hits it in the right spots.

It’s a deeply engaging movie and special mention to the sound design and cinematography to depict and portray the amphibians and other animals and to record their sounds in their natural habitat. The team I’m sure has gone to great lengths to provide this level of output and it shows on the screen.

Please do watch the movie and let me know what you felt about it in the comments section.
